Early Life and Career Information
Dayvon Daquan Bennett was born on August 9, 1994, in Chicago, Illinois, United States, to Walter E. Bennett and Taesha Bennett. Dayvon never really bonded with his father as the elder Bennett was in and out of his family’s life due to multiple incarcerations. He was fatally shot when Dayvon was only 11 years old.
Growing up without a father proved tough for Dayvon Bennett and it was only a matter of time before the streets had him. Bennett was first sent to jail at the age of 16. But this would only be the beginning of his numerous run-ins with law enforcement officers.
In 2014, Dayvon was accused of instigating a shooting that claimed one life and left another person grievously wounded. Fortunately for him, he was acquitted by the jury.
After his acquittal, King Von launched his rapping career. He formed a long-term collaboration with fellow rapper and friend Lil Durk.
Lil Durk signed Dayvon to his ‘Only the Family’ label. Von went on to release his single “Crazy Story” on December 6, 2018. The song would become his breakout single.
On February 14, 2019, King Von appeared in a music video for a song by his former girlfriend, rapper Asian Doll.

The video peaked at #4 on the Bubbling Under Hon 100 chart. A third rendition for “Crazy Story”, titled “Crazy Story Pt. 3,” was released on September 13, 2019.
On July 9, 2019, King Von released the single “Like That,” in collaboration with Lil Durk. Two months later, he released the single “What It’s Like.”
On September 19, 2019, King Von collaborated yet again with Lil Durk to release a 15-track mixtape titled Grandson, Vol. 1. The album debuted at #75 on the Billboard 200 and #27 on the Hip Hop/R&B albums chart. Von released more songs over the next couple of months, including the singles “2 A.M,” “Rollin” (ft. YNW Melly), and “Took Her to the O.”
On March 6, 2020, King Von released his second and last mixtape, Levon James. The mixtape features a number of rappers, including NLE Choppa, G Herbo, Tee Grizzley, YNW Melly, and Lil Durk. It peaked at #63 on the Billboard 200.
King Von’s debut studio album, Welcome to O’Block, was eventually released on October 30, 2020.
On November 6, 2020, a week after releasing his debut studio album, Kong Von was fatally shot in an altercation with Quando Rondo’s crew. The incident happened outside the Atlanta-based Monaco hookah lounge. Von was buried in Chicago, Illinois, on November 14, 2020.
